Anyways, Chris did well in his marathon. Not as well as he would have liked, but he beat his last marathon time by almost an hour and a half. He was on pace to run a 4:30 marathon, and then around mile 22, he started to really hurt. It turns out that the cushioning in one of his shoes went out! We looked at the shoes after the race, and it was clear that one of the heel areas had just crumpled! But, strangely enough, after doing a marathon, after a few days, he wasn't even sore anymore!
So, I've already signed him up for the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon in Phoenix in January. We've got a hotel room booked, and a crib reserved. We're hoping that Chris's brother, Jake, will come out and run with Chris. That's why we got the room with two beds. And also, Chris has already admitted that the free concert would be way more fun to see with Jake, than me. Sadly, he's right. I'm not much fun at concerts. Unless there's really good dancing, I could hear the same thing on the radio, or watch it on TV.
Here are some pictures of the marathon...
Here are Chris's shoes. At the time of this photo, we didn't know they were plotting against Chris.
And here is his outfit for the marathon...very fetching...
This is Mile 13, I think. At the first stop, I was standing there, and totally didn't see him until I heard him yelling for me. Then, I was so surprised, I took a picture of nothing. And then he was gone. I also saw him at mile 8, where I had to yell for him. He looked great! Then, I took the crowded, disorganized trolley to mile 13, and then I headed to the finish line, because it was on a military installation, so it took forever to get on, because they were doing full searches.
Here's Chris getting close to the finish line. He's got the white hat on, and the white shirt, and the grey shorts.
And here's Chris, about to cross the finish line. The time was about 10 minutes off, because they started the race about 10 minutes late...
