So, on Sunday, Chris and I spent the afternoon at the Sierra Vista Regional Emergency Room. Why, you ask? Because Chris kicked a kitchen cabinet and ripped his toenail from his foot. Have you ever seen that commercial for foot fungus, where the little fungi lift up the toenail and climb in? Chris's toe was like the toe in that commercial. So, I wrapped it up in some gauze and tape and we went to the ER. We waited for 2 hours, then a nurse looked at it and then the doctor came over. He looked at it (I say look because he didn't touch it...in fact he didn't get any closer than two feet) and then said that the nail should be left on to protect the toe. He said that eventually, the nail would just fall off, but to leave a band aid on. Then, a nurse came over and put a band aid on it. She didn't actually touch the toe, or clean off the dried blood, or disinfect the nail. But she did put a very large band aid on it. And then gave Chris a prescription for Vicadin. Because an injury that needed a band aid also needed vicadin. Anyways, we got home, and the band aid fell off, so I put a new one on. Chris's toe really hurts and looked gross when it happened, but since then, has looked almost normal except for the little bit of ooze and plasma and blood.
Well, since I didn't stop to take a picture of the toe when the injury occurred, I've created an accurate painting of it.

This is Chris's toe, uninjured.

This is Chris's toe, after the injury. It got all red and bloody, and the nail lifted up and blood pooled out. It was gross. Sorry that I don't have actual pictures, but this is VERY close.
