Yearning for Freedom

When we bought our new home, we loved our backyard. It often had nice shaded areas, and was very large. On the side of the backyard, is our metal gate. Unfortunately, our dogs seem to fit through the gate. At least, Eden used to (We don't know if her big butt still does), and Rai definitely does (He's got a skinny little butt). So, that's why we have the extra wide baby gate. Chris and I are planning on getting a new gate, but that would entail some sort of extra income, and after a new house, two puppies, and a new car, extra income is a faint dream.

Anyways, the puppies know that a world exists outside of the backyard because they can see out the gate, and recently, we've started walking to the mail box with them. So, they often spend lots of time sitting in front of the gate together. Chris and I believe that they are plotting their escape...

Here's Rai, just gazing at freedom. One time he did get out. We think that Eden pushed the locking arm on the baby gate up, so that they could knock the gate down. When Chris heard the gate fall, he ran over there and saw Eden sitting inside the gate ***big butt*** and Rai sitting outside the gate. Chris took off after Rai, who promptly ran towards the front yard, where he was distracted by a plant and stopped for a sniff, where Chris caught him.

Here they both are, sniffing for weaknesses in the gate.

Here's Rai and Eden. It's hard to tell, but Eden has just jumped up against the wall. It seems that she is trying to jump OVER the wall, and is about two feet two short. Recently, this has become a favorite past time of hers; we'll see her just run around and the bounce off the wall. Rai doesn't do it, but he watches intently, as if he is learning the technique. Posted by Picasa
